I have found that pouring Clorox down all my drains including the bath and laundry room and following it with warm water once weekly helps a great deal. Note I pour the Clorox with the water in the washing machine drain pipe area to prevent it from eating at the hose from the washing machine!

pour thick bleach down the drain last thing at night, then rinse away in the morning and this should solve your problem. if the smell is still there use caustic soda from most hardware shops.

I have always heard that you could pour lemon juice down them, let them sit for a bit then wash through.

I have a disposal in ours and i have ground up a lemon before. It works wonders for smelly sinks.

good luck

Good Grief--- I hope people don't throw food or grease down the drain. Sarah stated that she did not have a disposal. It was the drains that smelled funny and needed to be freshened up.
That being said, try some type of drano and leave it in the pipes for a few minutes then flush with hot water. It's a good idea to do this periodically.
Baking Soda is also a good freshener.

I'm in the same situation. You don't want to put undiluted bleach down there because it can ruin your pipes. Instead, dilute the bleach 50-50 with water, and rinse it thoroughly when you're done.
Also, I like to clean the sink and drains with dishwashing liquid and a sponge whenever I'm doing the dishes anyway.
It keeps it clean longer and mine smells like citrus.
good luck.

I use hot water flowing through them for a min. then add a scented bleach through it to help kill the odor causing bacteria that can come from rotting food. If that doesnt help, get a drain snake and follow the same steps but use the snake to smush the food up and send it through. From now on, put a special container under the sink, with a sealed lid, to collect biodegradeable products like food leftovers and cofffee grounds. When the container is full, use it to make a compost or find a good way to dispose of it without going in the sink or trash. I use a container for all greases that I end up with after cooking a meal. I have a grease container under the sink(a coffee can with lid) When it is full, I take it to a friend who uses it in her garden. Hope this helps!
