How do I sweat a ball-valve into my copper plumbing without damaging the valve seal?
I bought a ball valve that is designed to be sweat (soldered) into my copper plumbing, but won’t the heat from the soldering process damage the seal around the ball valve? How does one avoid that?

Suggest to take the guts out of the valve when soldering,if possible. Another idea is to wrap the valve with a very wet rag
Open the valve & work quickly & it will be fine.
Don’t wrap a wet rag as suggested above. It will never get hot enough to melt solder if it’s wet.
